Description
After William Hogarth (British 1697-1764), "Three Characters, Four Caricatures", hand colored engraving. Published in "The Works of William Hogarth" by Trusler and Roberts in London, England in 1860. Framed 16.25" x 14.25". Note: "Three Characters, Four Caricatures" was first created as an elaborate subscription ticket for his series of engravings, "Marriage a la Mode". Interestingly, the image became so popular that Hogarth issued it as a separate engraving. It is a wonderful example of his study of over 100 different faces.
