2nd-3rd century AD. A cast bust of Serapis, robed and bearded with modius corn-measure to the crown of his head, after the original wooden statue by Bryaxis in the Temple of Serapis, Alexandria; mounted on a custom-made stand. 75 grams, 67mm including stand (2 3/4"). Private London collection; acquired in the UK before 1980.
