Buick (died 1904) was a Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland from 1885 and vice president of the Royal Historical & Archaeological Association of Ireland; among other things, he published a paper entitled Irish Flint Arrowheads in the 1895 issue of their Journal (a copy included) and formed a large collection that was dispersed at auction in Dublin, following his death. Bernard Pickard has long had an interest in Stone Age and other artefacts; he was a close friend of Richard Hattatt and inspired Richard to write his four superb books on brooches and provided the text for the introduction to the animal brooches section in pp.158-160.
