Description
13th-15th century AD. A cast harness pendant, lozengiform with radiating knops, central motif of a facing mask with red and blue enamel in the field; above, a heater-shield suspension plate with lateral loops, green field with pellets and a zigzag line blazoned 'Azure a fess dancetty between six billets or', probably a variant of the Deincourt arms which feature ten billets. 17 grams, 53mm (2"). From an old North Country collection; found near Castle Rising, Norfolk, UK, in 1987. The Deincourt or D'Eyncourt family were active in Yorkshire in the later 13th century AD.
