Item Details
Description
710-760 AD. Obv: profile bust with +LELNS legend with S sideways. Rev: degraded 'porcupine' bust with line of small pellets below main element. S. 815 (variant); M. 443 (same dies? See pp. 546-547 for discussion); N. 80 (variant); Abramson T150 (variant). 0.86 grams. This issue is considered to be a variant of the rare MONITA SCORVM type but this example has the longer obverse legend (usually seen as +LEL) and lacks the 'candelabrum' symbol often seen to the reverse; Metcalf has distinguished 3 main types within series T with this as transitional, sharing elements from type T1 and T2, being classifed as T1/2 by him and sub-type (b) for the obverse legend form. TimeLine Auctions Ltd arranges printed catalogue rostrum Auctions, eAuctions and Timed Auctions where we offer antiquities, ancient artefacts / artifacts, antiques, collectibles, coins, medals and books for public sale.
