This piece has significant grime build up, and a significant varnish covering signs of restoration. There is a crackle in the paint that is stabilized with the varnish layer. There is some significant overpainting a few areas in the painting. The cloud area that is around the figure's feet on the right has had significant yellow over painting. It appears there was some bold text beneath that was painted over. The pants of the figure on the far left bottom corner have been painted over, and there is over painting in the middle of the sky to the right of the figure's outstretched hand. There was possibly text below this area as well. There is a V shape tear in the middle of the painting about 5" from the bottom, tear is about 3" x 3". there are some light stretcher bar marks about 2" into the canvas. The signature appears to have been traced over with black.
