Description
Peru, North to central Coast, Ca 800 to 1300 CE. Two framed textiles from the Chancay culture. First is a two-colored panel in white and golds, with white section decorated in embroidered cats - numbering in the hundreds. Other example is cloth strip in tan and brown with positive and negative images of a zoomorphic creature - looking very bunnyish. Largest measures 20" by 16-1/2" (25" by 22" frame). Other is 26" by 5-1/2" (29" by 11").
