Important Notice: Please note that the format of this auction differs from a traditional eBay Live auction in that only absentee bids are accepted. There is no live "bidding on the close" in which to participate. All lots offered in this auction will close at exactly the same time, as opposed to a traditional one at a time closing of lots, and therefore there is no live "one lot at a time" bidding close in which to participate. Your left bids will compete with all other left bids by auction participants. Bids may be placed on the eBay system at any time prior to 9:00 PM EST, May 1, 2004. No bids will be recognized or accepted when the eBay Live "live bidding applet" is run early in the morning of May 2, 2004 strictly for the purpose of officially registering and recording the final auction results.
1889 N43 Allen & Ginter Morrell Spectacular super high-grade sample from the scarcest of the Allen & Ginter Champions sets. This sample features John Morrell, captain and first baseman of the Boston Nationals. N43s feature the same subjects and designs as the smaller N29 second series Allen & Ginters, but in a larger format and with extra artwork complimenting the larger design. Measuring approximately 3 x 3.25 inches, the large format N43 Allen & Ginters are widely recognized as one of the most attractive sets ever issued. This is an incredible sample from this popular set, featuring one of the six baseball players in the series (the other subjects in the set feature stars from other sports). In virtually flawless condition it has perfect colors, bright and crisp with sharp corners. It is rare to find any card from this era in such high grade. Graded NM 84 by SGC. We believe this to be a conservative grade, as we grade this card slightly higher at Near Mint to Nr/Mt-Mt condition.Reserve $400. Estimate $1,500/$2,000.
