Important Notice: Please note that the format of this auction differs from a traditional eBay Live auction in that only absentee bids are accepted. There is no live "bidding on the close" in which to participate. All lots offered in this auction will close at exactly the same time, as opposed to a traditional one at a time closing of lots, and therefore there is no live "one lot at a time" bidding close in which to participate. Your left bids will compete with all other left bids by auction participants. Bids may be placed on the eBay system at any time prior to 9:00 PM EST, May 1, 2004. No bids will be recognized or accepted when the eBay Live "live bidding applet" is run early in the morning of May 2, 2004 strictly for the purpose of officially registering and recording the final auction results.

Ebbets Field Photograph Signed By Over 100

Large panoramic display photograph (16 x 20 inches) of historic Ebbets Field signed by over 100 members of the Brooklyn Dodgers organization. Taken during one of the classic Yankee-Dodger World Series games of the 1950's, this photograph captures the flavor and personality of Ebbets Field, from its cozy dimensions to the advertising signs across the leftfield wall. Signed in bold, blue sharpie by an almost countless array of Brooklyn Dodgers, including "Duke Snider," "Pee Wee Reese," "Sandy Koufax," "Ralph Branca," "Preacher Roe," "Mickey Owen," "Don Newcombe," "Johnny Podres," "Joe Black," and "Carl Erskine" among other players, coaches, and team personnel. All signatures are large and bold, and are virtually flawless, grading "10" on a scale of 1 to 10. It is obvious that when this photograph was signed, the players appreciated the significance of the tribute to the Dodgers being created, and took special care in their signing. The Dodgers departed for Los Angeles following the 1957 season, and Ebbets Field would be demolished in 1960. In an era of sprawling, multi-dimensional ballparks, where the focus often seems to be on everything but the game, this signed photograph recaptures an earlier era, an era when the emotions of an entire borough were felt to rise and fall with the success and failure of the local team. This is a classic and magnificently conceived signed tribute to the Brooklyn Dodgers. In pristine Mint condition. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500.
