Incredible 1973-1976 Wacky Packages Sticker Hoard (4,900+)

When Wacky Packs stickers were issued in the early 1970s, kids went wild. Whether it was the times, as youngsters became more enlightened to the manipulations of Madison Avenue, or the amusing irreverence of the artwork, the set struck a chord with the youth of America which continues to this day. Offered is the stock of an old-time dealer, one of the great legends of non-sport dealers, who appreciated Wacky packs when they were issued and stored away an extraordinary quantity of these modern classics. In fact, we believe this is the largest hoard of the original first 16 series of Wacky Packages ever offered. This massive collection of over 4,900 pieces is perfect for the collector, dealer, or investor, or anyone who, well…just wants a lot of Wacky Packs. The break value of this lot is astounding. It would be very difficult to do justice to this lot in terms of potential estimated value, and very difficult to account for the time and effort required to do so. We have never seen a collection similar to this ever offered. There is no question that if broken down and sold card-by-card, the collection would retail for a multiple of our high-end estimate. Quantities of all sixteen early series are represented, including many complete series sets, as well as 22 unopened wax packs from various years. Organized by series, the collection includes: 1) First Series: complete set (30), 24 singles, three 9-card puzzle sets. 2) Second Series (tan): three complete sets (33 each set), 63 assorted singles. 3) Second Series (white): complete set minus 1 ("Awful Bits") (32), 107 assorted singles, seven 9-card puzzle sets, one single black ludlow "Old Gloom." 4) Third Series: five complete sets (30 each set, three sets with "Spic and Span" text variation, two sets have the no "Spic and Span" text variation), 50 assorted singles, 9-card puzzle set, 16 puzzle pieces. 5) Fourth Series: ten complete sets with "Windhex & Mess Clairoil" (32 each set), seven "Windhex" 9-card puzzle sets, three "Bum Chex" singles, two "Choke Wagon" singles, two "Bum Chex" 9-card puzzle sets, 96 assorted singles. 6) Fifth Series: five complete sets (32 each set), 9-card puzzle set, 277 assorted singles. 7) Sixth Series: eight complete sets (33 each set), four 9-card puzzle sets, two 9-card "Spill Bad" puzzle sets, 130 assorted singles, and 18 puzzle pieces. 8) Seventh Series: eight complete sets (33 each set), six 9-card puzzle sets, 75 assorted singles. 9) Eighth Series: six complete sets (30 each set), five 9-card puzzle sets (brown back), four 9-card puzzle sets (white back), 70 assorted singles. 10) Ninth Series: three complete sets (29 each set), 9-card puzzle set, 66 assorted singles, and 30 puzzle pieces. 11) Tenth Series: 105 assorted singles (including "Pupsi-Cola"), and 20 puzzle pieces. 12) Eleventh Series: three complete sets (30 each set), 106 assorted singles, and 14 puzzle pieces. 13) Twelfth Series: seven complete sets (27 each set), two near complete sets minus 1 ("Wash N' Fly"), 9-card puzzle set, 100 assorted singles, and 28 puzzle pieces. 14) Thirteenth Series: 108 assorted singles and six 9-card puzzle sets. 15) Fourteenth Series: 90 assorted singles and four 9-card puzzle sets. 16) Fifteenth Series: three complete sets (30 each set), 9-card puzzle set, 83 assorted singles, and 14 puzzle pieces. 17) Sixteenth Series: complete set (30), near complete set minus 1 ("Fling 'Ems Candy"), five 9-card puzzle sets, 65 assorted singles, 45 puzzle pieces, and "Scoot Mouthwash" with no copyright. 18) 1982 Wacky Sticker Set (120). 19) 1973 Fourth Series O-Pee-Chee Set (66). 20) 1989 Fifth Series O-Pee-Chee Set (62). 21) nine Fourth series O-Pee-Chee singles and O-Pee-Chee single "Jail-O." 22) 95 assorted Wonder Bread Series singles. 23) Unopened Packs (22): two unopened packs of each series listed: third (yellow & red), sixth, eighth, ninth, tenth, twelfth, thirteenth, fourteenth, fifteenth, and sixteenth. 24) Wrappers (139): Each series listed with quantities in parenthesis. Third (two yellow), fourth (13), fifth (6), seventh (2), eighth (6), tenth, thirteenth (38), fourteenth (16), and sixteenth (55). The cataloguing of such a large Wacky Packages collection is very demanding and detail-oriented. Please allow for the possibility of a sticker missing from a series here or there, or a count being off by a card or two, due to human error. Condition: The stickers and cards virtually all range from Ex to Nr/Mt-Mt, but please allow for a small percentage (less than 10%) in slightly lesser grades. The wrappers are all Ex or better. The unopened packs are all Nr/Mt or better. Total 4,927 items. Reserve $1,500. Estimate $3,000/$6,000.
