Important Notice: Please note that the format of this auction differs from a traditional eBay Live auction in that only absentee bids are accepted. There is no live "bidding on the close" in which to participate. All lots offered in this auction will close at exactly the same time, as opposed to a traditional one at a time closing of lots, and therefore there is no live "one lot at a time" bidding close in which to participate. Your left bids will compete with all other left bids by auction participants. Bids may be placed on the eBay system at any time prior to 9:00 PM EST, May 1, 2004. No bids will be recognized or accepted when the eBay Live "live bidding applet" is run early in the morning of May 2, 2004 strictly for the purpose of officially registering and recording the final auction results.
1969 Topps "Slob Stickers" Original Artwork Offered is the original artwork (3-5/8 x 4-7/8 inches) for Slob Sticker #19, which was issued both as "Hot-Head Frank" and "Hot-Head Howie" from the 1969 Topps "Slob Stickers" series. This unusual sticker set, which is reminiscent of Topps' Ugly Stickers series, is credited as being the forerunner to the Topps Garbage Pail Kids set of the mid-1980s. In fact, the Slob Stickers set was introduced in court by Topps in their legal battle with Cabbage Patch Kids, to show that they first used the concept of issuing stickers with the same artwork, featuring different names. There are only 44 different designs in the set, each issued with two different names. Included with the original artwork are both versions of the finished stickers. The original artwork is in Near Mint condition. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$700. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
