Important Notice: Please note that the format of this auction differs from a traditional eBay Live auction in that only absentee bids are accepted. There is no live "bidding on the close" in which to participate. All lots offered in this auction will close at exactly the same time, as opposed to a traditional one at a time closing of lots, and therefore there is no live "one lot at a time" bidding close in which to participate. Your left bids will compete with all other left bids by auction participants. Bids may be placed on the eBay system at any time prior to 9:00 PM EST, May 1, 2004. No bids will be recognized or accepted when the eBay Live "live bidding applet" is run early in the morning of May 2, 2004 strictly for the purpose of officially registering and recording the final auction results.
1915 St Louis Terriers Federal League Team Panoramic and Pennant (2) 1915 St. Louis Federals panoramic photograph and pennant. Crystal clear panoramic photograph features 22 members of the Federal League's 1915 St. Louis Terriers. Flawless contrast provides incredible detail, especially among the fans in the grandstands of the background, which is the hallmark of a truly extraordinary early panoramic photograph. Players are identified in white lettering in foreground. "Photo by John R. Idoux Co., 619 Century Bldg" in lower right, also in white lettering. Includes the following players: Eddie Plank (HOF), Hughie Miller, Bob Groom, Doc Crandall, Grover Hartley, Babe Borton, Ernie Herbert, Armando Marsans, Al Bridwell, Jack Tobin, Doc Watson, Ed Willett, Fielder Jones, Harry Chapman, Delos Drake, La Rue Kirby, Charlie Deal, Dave Davenport, Ward Miller, Al Boucher, Ernie Johnson, and Bobby Vaughn. Close inspection reveals the hint of two vertical creases at each far end (from long ago being rolled), but this is very minor, and does not detract from the tremendous otherwise Near Mint appearance. The photograph measures an impressive 7 x 27 inches, and has been professionally framed to dimensions of 12 x 32 inches. Accompanying the panoramic photograph is an original St. Louis Terriers team pennant, designed to cheer the beloved Terriers to victory. Though the pennant probably saw much use, the moral support it provided apparently wasn't quite enough. The St. Louis Terriers finished second to Joe Tinker's Chicago Whales in the Federal League's second, and final, season. The pennant measures 28.5 inches from tassels to tip, and is beautifully framed to dimensions of 12 x 32 inches. The pennant exhibits some general wear and is in overall Very Good condition. Individually, each of these pieces stands on its own. Together, they compliment one another, creating an even greater tribute to the St. Louis Terriers of the short-lived Federal League. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
