Important Notice: Please note that the format of this auction differs from a traditional eBay Live auction in that only absentee bids are accepted. There is no live "bidding on the close" in which to participate. All lots offered in this auction will close at exactly the same time, as opposed to a traditional one at a time closing of lots, and therefore there is no live "one lot at a time" bidding close in which to participate. Your left bids will compete with all other left bids by auction participants. Bids may be placed on the eBay system at any time prior to 9:00 PM EST, May 1, 2004. No bids will be recognized or accepted when the eBay Live "live bidding applet" is run early in the morning of May 2, 2004 strictly for the purpose of officially registering and recording the final auction results.
1934 World Tour Program with Ruth, Foxx, and Gehrig Babe Ruth, Jimmy Foxx, and Lou Gehrig are featured on the cover of this extremely rare Japanese World Tour program from the 1934 American tour, which featured a team of American All Stars, led by manager Connie Mack. In addition to Ruth, Foxx, and Gehrig, Connie Mack also appears on the cover, along with symbolic crossing American and Japanese Flags. This rare 32-page program is written entirely in Japanese. Interior pages include an entire page devoted to each of many stars, including Ruth, Gehrig, and spy Moe Berg, along with accompanying biographies in Japanese. A composite of the entire team of American All Stars appears on the interior front cover. This is the ultimate 1934 World Tour program, because of the high quality of its production, its striking and very displayable cover, and its substantial, heavily illustrated yearbook-style design. The program is unscored. The interior pages are clean and crisp; the cover has a small degree of restoration top center, and a couple of light, barely visible creases, mentioned strictly for the sake of accuracy, otherwise in Excellent condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
