1955 Billy Loes Brooklyn Dodgers Signed Warm-Up Jacket

Extremely rare circa 1955 Dodgers jacket issued to pitcher Billy Loes, dating from Brooklyn's greatest era. Blue nylon zipper-front jacket is lettered "Dodgers" across the chest in script. The collar, cuffs, and waistband are trimmed in double-white stripes, with a pocket on each side. A "Skinner" label appears in the collar, above a "44" size tag, and below a black leather hanging strap. On the inside front tail is the "Milium" label, and above that is the "Earl-Glo" label. Loes' player number "30" appears stitched in white block numbers at the bottom of the left sleeve, just above the cuff. The jacket has been signed by "Billy Loes" on the tail of the "s" in "Dodgers." The signature is in blue ink and grades a "7" on a scale of 1 to 10. Renowned for his inspired way with words, as well as his on-the-field abilities, Loes advised others against becoming a 20-game winner, because "If you win 20 games, they expect you to do it every year." Loes apparently took his own advice. He never did win 20, but was 50-25 over four seasons in Brooklyn. This is a spectacular Dodger-issued warm-up jacket dating from the mid-1950s, the glory years of Brooklyn baseball. The only other example of this rare and extremely desirable circa 1955 Dodger jacket style that we have ever seen was Jackie Robinson's jacket, which was sold many years ago by his wife Robinson. The jacket has some fraying along the trim, but is otherwise in Excellent condition overall.
