1952 Bowman Mickey Mantle Signed Original Artwork By Dvorak Original oil painting of Mickey Mantle's 1952 Bowman card by legendary baseball card artist Gerry Dvorak has been boldly signed by Mickey Mantle ("8") in blue sharpie across his chest. Dvorak is highly acclaimed for his work for Topps in the early 1950s, including Mantle's 1953 Topps card. Dvorak passed away several years ago. While he did not paint the original of Mantle's 1952 Bowman card, late in his career he enjoyed a great demand for recreation commissions of famous cards, and this is a prime example of this work. Dvorak often went to great lengths to personally see that his paintings were signed by the players, especially Mantle who was always very happy to accommodate him. The painting is also signed by Dvorak in the lower right. The timeless portrayal is in Nr/Mt to Mt condition. Measuring 15.5 x 21.5 inches, it is beautifully framed to dimensions of 17.5 x 21.5 inches. LOAs from Mike Gutierrez/GAI and James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200.
