Important Notice: Please note that the format of this auction differs from a traditional eBay Live auction in that only absentee bids are accepted. There is no live "bidding on the close" in which to participate. All lots offered in this auction will close at exactly the same time, as opposed to a traditional one at a time closing of lots, and therefore there is no live "one lot at a time" bidding close in which to participate. Your left bids will compete with all other left bids by auction participants. Bids may be placed on the eBay system at any time prior to 9:00 PM EST, May 1, 2004. No bids will be recognized or accepted when the eBay Live "live bidding applet" is run early in the morning of May 2, 2004 strictly for the purpose of officially registering and recording the final auction results.
1967 Fedtro Mickey Mantle Metal Sign During the 1960s, Mickey Mantle was endorsing products of all kinds, including foods, beverages, and even electronics. Dating from 1967, Mantle is pictured on this black-and-white metal sign promoting "Fedtro" electronic products. We can't imagine many of these elaborate and expensively-made signs were produced, let alone survived. Designed to be displayed in electronics stores, electronics producer Fedtro chose Mantle to promote their line of "transistorized wireless intercoms." Apparently Mantle's popularity wasn't quite enough to ensure the success of this revolutionary product, as today we rarely (make that never) see wireless electronic megaphones, or Fedtro products of any kind. The metal sign measures 13.5 x 32 inches and is in Ex-Mt condition. A very unusual, substantial, and extremely rare Mantle advertising display sign for a product that, well, just didn't take off. Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
