Description
SERIAL #: None, Circa 1730-1750 DESIGN: Double barreled flintlock pistol with 4" brass barrels. Double triggers. Bores measure approximately .40". A fine example of an early 18th century pistol, most likely French, with rare and fine detailing. MATERIAL/FINISH COMPOSITION: Iron locks. Brass barrels and furniture. Walnut stock. FEATURES: No sights. The rear of the barrels have finely engraved scrollwork and foliate work. The locks are engraved with a panoply of arms. The dog locks still have their original dogs (safety catches). Brass mountings are well engraved with scrollwork. Brass butt cap is also faceted in steps much like the early French candlesticks of the early 18th century. The walnut stock has its original surface with finely relief carved moldings and fleur-delis' behind the rear entry pipe and the brass barrel tang. Wood ramrod with brass jag mounted on tip. CONDITION: Fine. Light denting, discoloration and scratching to the brass components. Modest muzzle wear. Modest wear to stock which retains the original finish.
