DESCRIPTION: A Japanese WWII military issue sword made in Gifu Prefecture during the war with late war army mountings. Blade is fullered and is signed Gifu Jyu Yoshida Kanesuke. Ray skin covered wood grip. Brown painted wood scabbard with wood toe. This sword is a WWII bring back by a member of the 7th Cavalry, the army of occupation after the war. MEASUREMENTS: Blade length is approximately 26" Overall length is 38-3/4". CONDITION: The blade's temper can be seen along the bottom and has a lightly sharpened edge. The menuki is slightly loose. Moderate loss of finish to the scabbard. The scabbard was covered in a leather sheath that has been lost. ESTIMATE: $1,200-$1,500.
