DESCRIPTION: James Rosenquist (American, 1933 - ). Lithograph in three colors, red, white, and blue. On arches paper. See-Saw, Class Systems, 1968. Numbered at lower left "83/100", titled "see-saw", signed "Jim Rosenquist 1968" at lower right. The subject of the print is Richard J. Daley (1902-1976), the Mayor of Chicago for 21 years and chairman of the Cook County Democratic Central Committee for 23 years. Born in 1933 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, James Rosenquist studied art at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts as a teenager and at the University of Minnesota between 1952 and 1954. In 1962, James Rosenquist had his first solo exhibition, which was at the Green Gallery in New York, and afterward he was included in a number of groundbreaking group exhibitions that established Pop art as a movement. MEASUREMENTS: 24" x 34-1/2". CONDITION: Light toning throughout.
