Description
State of Tennessee Land Grant , 13" X 16.25", framed, Signed by Governor William Carroll and cosigned by David Graham as Secretary, July 25th, 1826. Alexander Berryhill of Franklin County, Tennessee ,veteran of the Indian wars assigned Land on Shoal Creek, in Lawrence County to Aaron Mayhew (Born Alen County Kentucky, 1799. Died July 12. Married to Sarah Will Mayhew.)1873 Governor Carroll fought at the battles of "Horseshoe Bend" and "The Battle of New Orleans with Andrew Jackson. Carroll served as Governor of Tennessee from 1821-1827 and from 1829-1835. William was Governor of Tennessee longer than any other person. Sam Houston was the Governor from 1827-1829. Condition - Very strong Governor William Carroll Signature.
Condition
The grant has three folds, medium foxing and three small holes at the center fold (see photos). very strong Governor William Carroll Signature. framed in a 1960`s era frame.
