British born Mark King (1931-2014) was one of America's favorite artists during the 1970-80's and 90's when he and others like LeRoy Neiman burst the envelope and began combining traditional impressionist values and techniques to subjects like golf, horseracing and wild animals. This Polo painting depicts the excitement and the power King could capture as these Polo players and ponies race each other toward the finish of the final Chukkah (or period) in the match.
