NEW ENGLAND CHIPPENDALE SLANT-FRONT DESK. Rhode Island or Massachusetts, in mahogany with pine and poplar secondary woods. With four graduated drawers and high, bracket feet. The interior has a central stack of three drawers, one of which is shell-carved, flanked by document drawers with applied columns and corkscrew finials, and stacks of four cubbyholes with shaped valences over three drawers. Retains an old, mellow finish and its original brasses. Minor defects. 43" h. 41" w. 21" d.
