INLAID FEDERAL LADIES' SECRETARY. New England. Mahogany, figured veneer and pine. In two parts. Upper cabinet with cove molding above a veneered frieze and band inlay. The three inlaid doors open to two dovetailed drawers over a cubbyhole with scalloped valence. The writing surface has replaced green felt, unfolds and rests on pull out supports. Four graduated dovetailed drawers with cockbeading and bookend veneer have what appear to be original eagle brasses. Inlaid shaped skirt and French feet.The base with desk rests on curved French feet. Minor inlay loss, age splits and missing cubby dividers. 43"w. 20"d. 54 1/2"h. 34"h. writing height.
