John Strodl, NY, 1871 Childs Violin. Manufactured by John Strodl of 195 Grand St. New York City (formerly of 235 Centre St.) signed and dated 1871. Child’s size violin has a carved maple scroll & neck with ebony tuning pegs, fingerboard & tailpiece, maple body is in good condition with no repairs, cracks or hairlines. Overall size is 16 in. long x 6 in. wide, body alone measures 10 in. long. In an original case including 2 pitch pipes and 2 bows. One bow is has a round shaft with a floral mother of pear inlaid frog and measures 20.75 in. long, the other has a round shaft with octagonal grip end, measures 18 in. long.
