Description
Four-Piece Collection of Galle Faience Pottery, fourth quarter 19th century, Nancy, France, consisting of a blue and white sunflower-form wall pocket, decorated with crosses of Lorraine and flower sprigs, h. 9", w. 9", a blue and white sauceboat signed "E. Galle, Nancy", h. 3-1/4", w. 6-3/4", a shell-form wall plaque marked "dipose Emile Galle", h. 8-3/4", w. 10-1/4", and a plate with a pierced rim, reading "forget me not", dia. 9-1/2".
Condition
The plate with the sailboat scene has faint hairlines to the back side. The plate with the openwork edge has two small shrinkage cracks at the edge from shrinkage in the kiln. The wall pocket has two cracks to the left side. One leaf tip appears to be repainted. Minor flakes to other leaf tips along the top edge. The boat has minor flakes to the lip edge and a small hairline to one side.
