Description
John Barrymore (American, 1882-1942). Signed portrait sketch of Hy Vogel. Charcoal pencil on paper. Inscribed "To Hy--With affection--John Barrymore" lower right. Mounted on illustration board. Paper 12" x 9", board 13 7/8" x 11 7/8". Along with two black and white photographs (one of which is framed) of the two together at the London Chop House, as well as an enlarged framed article from the Detroit Free Press Editorial Magazine (dated September 14, 1941) describing Vogel's work and an anecdote from one of Barrymore's visits to the London Chop House.
Condition
Slight yellowing of the paper consistent with age. The paper is slightly rippled from adhesion to the illustration board.
