19th century solid brass "Helmet Form" coal scuttle with a heavy, solid brass bail handle, and a stationary back handle to assist with tilting.The scuttle is solid brass, with dovetailed construction in the back of the piece. It has a heavy, round, brass bail handle with heavy brass handle "brackets", secured with copper rivets. The rear handle, to assist with tilting and carrying, is also solid brass.MEASUREMENTS:15" deep - front to back 9 3/4" high to front lip 15 1/2" high to top of bail handle 10 1/2" wide x 11" deep bottom

The coal scuttle is in great, original condition structurally..... no holes, breaks, missing parts, etc. but it does show wear from use, consistent with its age.
