Description
CHORRERA WHISTLING DOVE. Columbia, ca. 1800-300 BC. The bird with upturned tail and applied eyes. The surface of the piece a fine burnished red. 3.75 x 6.6 inches. Intact save for tiny chip to base. Very rare early pre-Columbian musical instrument. Free standing.
Provenance: Acquired by the current owner on the Manhattan antiquities market in the late 20th century.
