A pair of North Italian maiolica Albarelli, mid 17th century, each of waisted form inscribed 'Spec. Aromat. Ros' or 'Spec. Epite. Cord', initials 'G.N', between bands of oak leaves and fruit, below an armorial, chips, one foot restored, 12cm (2) EW Provenance: The Maria Baer Collection. The first is possibly Species Aromaticus Rosa: rose petals to be used for anything from syrups to ointments, the second Species Epithema Cordial, epithema being a formentation.
