Item Details
Description
1997 $100 Franklin Quarter Pound Silver Proof SCE1937. As-Is Condition! KH751RE. One silver tone 1997 $100 Franklin silver proof featuring an expert adaptation of the $100 Franklin Federal Reserve Note that was first introduced in 1996. It features the same portrait of Benjamin Franklin that has appeared on $100 Federal Reserve Notes since 1928, but it is larger and shifted to the left of center. It is the first new $100 design since 1928. The new design took the U.S. Treasury 20 years to develop, and it represents the start of a new series of U.S. banknotes to be introduced at the rate of one per year. The reverse shows Independence Hall in Franklin's home town of Philadelphia. Appropriately, this quarter-pound silver proof is the size of the original $100 Federal Reserve Note but is much thicker and much heavier. The exclusive minting process took many years to develop and assures the highest proof quality. Composition: .999 pure silver. Weight: one quarter-pound (4 oz. Troy). Condition: Proof. Size: 6" x 2-5/8". Design: from the New U.S. Franklin $100 Federal Reserve Note. Mintage limit: 100,000.
