OSIRIS SCULPTURE

17. OSIRIS SCULPTURE Bronze figurine with double headdress, cross crook and flail, nearly 3" in length. The God's annual death and resurrection symbolized the yearly drought and periodic flooding of the Nile River creating rich alluvial soil and the growth of grain. Such figures were placed in tombs to protect the dead. Carved in nicely detailed high relief, the body is relatively flat with a mounting stud on its base. MB: $80
