22. [SILVER TETRADRACHM] Ca. 138-129 BC. Greek Selucid, Antiochus VII coin, 1" in diameter, custom mounted as pendant. Featuring deeply struck bold images, this ancient coin is set in vermeil mount of 24K gold over silver. Obverse displays head of Antiochus VII with diadem facing right; reverse is standing eagle facing left. A choice coin in stunning jewelry setting. Antiochus VII reigned from 139 to 130 BC, defeating John Maccabeus and besieged Jerusalem, but concluded a favorable peace from fear of Rome. Later he waged war with the Parthians and was slain in battle. MB: $200
