Loss to pp29-30. Marginal chip to pl. 57, title leaf, and pages 99-100. Marginal tears, creases to first and last few leaves, minor creasing elsewhere. Foxed. Dampstaining (usually marginal when it occurs, but sometimes in image). Light toning throughout. 59 plates. Norton 101. Mounted to rear pastedown is a handwritten “Survey of Mr Cheney Richardsons work for Mr Benja Adams.” In the upper margin, above the title of the table is “Charlestown May 30th 1822.” The table lists 14 expenses (ranging from $6.40 to $231.32). The items mentioned include clearing roof shingles, framing, dressers, “Garrett flooring for stairs…,” the chimney, and other details. At lower right: “Survey by expense $15.06.” Also handwritten at lower right: “Jh. Stodder.” In the same hand as Stodder’s name: “Lt. Vool.” Pencil mathematical computation in the blank area at the bottom of the Survey. Foxed throughout, plates toned. Some dampstains, more significant stain to plates 31 and 32. Handwritten in sepia on ffep: “William Brewster’s Book…” Another Brewster ownership inscription on rfep.
