[Asia/Japan/Ceramics]. James L. Bowes. JAPANESE POTTERY WITH NOTES DESCRIBING THE THOUGHTS AND SUBJECTS EMPLOYED IN ITS DECORATION AND ILLUSTRATIONS FROM EXAMPLES IN THE BOWES COLLECTION. Liverpool: Edward Howell, 1890. Later (not modern) ½ navy blue morocco and marbled board. Spine loose, front cover separated. Most plates have slight toning from contact with the publisher’s acidic tissue guards. Plate XLV has marginal soiling, most plates near fine. Limitation leaf is either lacking or not issued. 67 plates: Double-page color map & 66 numbered single-page plates (some color lithographs on thick stock, some from photos, some diagrams).
