Parts I-II are from an edition where each part is a separate volume.) NY: John G. Unnevehr, 1869. 362 (of 364) plates, as follows. Vol I: 80 plates. (Plates in Vol I numbered I-LXXIX, with "LXVI a" in addition to "LXVI." Plate “II” is a small title page illustration (technically not a plate), but the plate bearing the Facsimile document is unnumbered). Vol II: 79 plates (LXXX-CLVIII). Parts III-IV: 203 (of 205) plates (lacking Plates LVI-LVII in Part III). 4to. First 2 vols are in original light brown morocco tooled in dark brown with gilt titles and gilt dentelle. Vol I’s front cover is separated, other joints brittle, Vol I’s spine loose. Volume containing Parts III-IV is in original ½ leather and brick red cloth with a monogram at center of front cover and “Volume II” on spine. Corners of covers bumped and a little worn, scuffing to leather. Foxed. Occasional dampstains in Vol II (affecting last 3 plates in Vol I). Previous owner neatly pencilled several plates’ titles below images in Part III. Part III, plate 101 has tear within image, several other folding plates have marginal tear. Plates mostly show Thorswaldsen’s sculpture. ++ Charles A. Dana (ed.). Front cover separated, spine and rear cover loose. Foxed. Plate list creased. Crease to upper corner of plate facing p257 (well outside the image). Lighter crease to upper corner of last few plates. Several tissue guards have creasing and/or wear/chips to edges. ++ THE ART JOURNAL. New Series, Vol VI (1854), in 1 volume. NY: George Virtue. 4to. Early ½ leather and cloth. Spine lacking, covers separated. Contents mostly very good, occasional wear. Defects involving tissue guards. Sold with all faults. ++ Charles Knight (ed.). Covers separated/loose, Vol I’s spine loose. 51 (of 57) steel-engraved plates: 47 scenes from Shakespeare’s plays, 2 engr titles, and 2 frontises (lacking the other 6 ports). Minor foxing (mostly Vol I). Several tissue guards in Vol I chipped at edges, creased, or otherwise worn.
