[Ships]. Color lithograph “INMAN LINE ROYAL & UNITED STATES/MAIL STEAMERS/BETWEEN LIVERPOOL & NEW YORK” by “H. Blacklock & Co., Color Printers, Manchester & London.” Showing the “City of Richmond” in harbor with Inman pilot vessel alongside. The Inman Line was one of the 3 largest 19C British passenger shipping companies traversing the Atlantic, along with the White Star and Cunard Lines. The “City of Richmond” was a “Large, Full-Powered, Clyde-Built Steamship,” built in 1873, and operated by the Inman Line until 1891, when it was sold. Passengers and mail were transported weekly between Liverpool and New York City and the express liner is shown flying American and British flags along with the Inman Line flag. Lithograph by “H. Blacklock & Co., Color Printers, Manchester & London.“ Print attached with tabs at top to backing; some light spotting and toning visible, mat cut away to show text, not examined out of frame.
