FREDERICK III (1831-1888), popular King of Germany who served gallantly as a military commander in the Franco-Prussian War. His reign was tragically cut short when he died soon after his accession. Boldly penned attractive signature as prince, "Frederick William." Plus an ANS by member of British Royal Family, GEORGE, DUKE OF CAMBRIDGE (1819-1906), 1p, 4½"x7", Oct 20, 1864. On his Glourester House, Park Lane imprinted stationery, he writes, "I must see these reports on my return. I have not time to look over them before starting..." Darkly penned.
