GULF WAR PRESENTATION SWORD AND LIBERATION MEDAL
Lot of two items said to have been presented by a member of the Kuwaiti royal family to a major in the Marines who had served in the Persian Gulf War. Includes a cased presentation sword, 38" long overall, 31" steel blade, in gilt scabbard with two ornate sword knots and national symbol painted at the top of the scabbard. The sword, of relatively low quality, was likely given to American officers in fairly large quantities, although this is the first example we have seen. The sword is secured by maroon and gold braided cords within a wood box bearing a very intricate design of various inlaid woods - a work of art in itself. Sold with the nationally-issued Liberation of Kuwait medal and chest ribbon. Very good.
