Union soldier's letter, 2pp. 4to., "Head Qrs. 7th R.I. Vols., near Weldon R.R.", Nov. 11, 1864. H. J. Spooner writes a doctor sending his discharge and mentioning that the 4th and mean consolidated with the 7th R.I. He adds:"…The only excitement is in regard to election. Last night we rec'd papers…giving assurance of Lincoln's reelection. Deserters come in on our front nearly every day…nearly all saying that Lincoln's election will cause large numbers to desert, whole regiments to throw down their arms…". Very good.
