Early sheet music "Jim Crow", (Baltimore: George Willig, Jr.), ca. 1840s, 2pp., 9 1/2" x 13 1/2", bears an image of a fiddling slave on the cover and with lyrics written in dialect as would become the norm for such material during the 19th century. In part: "…My name's Jim Crow…Oh de Ohio n--gers tink demslves so fine, But de Baltimr niggs Dey can drink wine…Oh de Coal Black rose, Once was all de go, But now she find a ribal in Mister Jim Crow…". Light foxing, very good condition. Sold with "Emma Snow", New York, 1848, published for Campbell Minstrels. Very good.
