Description
JOHN F. KENNEDY
(1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the United States. Kennedy faced-down the Kruschev during the Cuban Missile Crisis, re-invigorated NASA, and signed the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. Assassinated November 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald. Excellent I.S.P. likely as president, 8" x 10" b/w, shows Kennedy seated in a casual pose, his hands in his lap and looking away from the camera, with rows of books on shelves behind him. Inscribed in blue ink: "To Dorothy Watson with very best wishes John Kennedy". Bottom margin bears a long, very thin chip from an old crease, not intruding on image. The photo bears the ink hand-stamped backstamp of photographer Jacques Lowe, indicating this was not a mass-produced image but likely came from Kennedy's personal stock. Watson was an upper-level Kennedy campaign staff worker from whose estate this photo originates. Accompanied also by an 8" x 10" photo of D.N.C. chairman Paul M. Butler, whom Watson identifies as "My Boss".
