Description
HOWARD HUGHES AND AVIATION
Lot of three items, includes two original candid photos, each 3 1/2" x 6", showing Hughes and Jackie Cochran's Northrop Gamma 2G, NR13761, likely taken at Floyd Bennett field in New York at the completion of Hughes' record-setting transcontinental flight on Jan. 14, 1936. Also included is a carbon copy of a "Memorandum to Police Officers" concerning Hughes' July 10, 1938 departure on an around-the-world flight from Floyd Bennett. The 3pp. 4to. memo concerns wording of passes to be given to authorized press and business representatives, each color-coded, the christening of the aircraft, and the take-off. Signed by ALBERT LODWICK, Hughes' business partner and fellow aviation enthusiast. Very good.
