(1899 - 1961) American writer, a Nobel prize winner and author of For Whom the Bell Tolls, A Farewell to Arms, The Old Man and the Sea, and other classic novels. Fine engrossed and signed check "Ernest Hemingway", Havana, Nov. 29, 1952 drawn on the Bank of Boston and making a $15.00 payment to "Portador" (the bearer). Endorsed on verso by Roberto Herrera, a Spanish expatriate and Hemingway's close friend in Cuba. Cancellation stamp barely grazed one letter in signature, else very good.
