(1808-1895) American clergyman and poet, author of our nation hymn "America" (1832), otherwise known as "My Country 'Tis of Thee". A.L.S. S. F. Smith", 1p. 8vo., Newton Center, Oct. 19, 1895, less than a month before his death. Smith writes a lady setting forth his train travel plans for West Bridgewater, adding: "...I anticipate much pleasure in the visit, & I hope it may be one of pleasure & profit to yourselves & the young ladies...".Folds, else very good.
