Description
Offered is an old wall clock that we believe to be a classic Japanese copy of an Ansonia model. Japanese began cloning Ansonia double arch works and case around 1890. This clock has a tag on rear stating, "#24437, Simon Wittner, Pony Express Systems, 2986 Navajo Street, Yorktown, NewYork 10598." This is the history of Wittner's involvement: Simon Wittner and his wife Shirley found a stash of old regulator clocks in a warehouse in New England. These clocks had never been sold and had been in storage until Simon found them in 1979. They were all made between 1890 and 1910. He marketed them for several years through his antique company, Pony Express Systems of Yorktown, New York. The size of this clock is approximately 22 inches tall with a 12 inch diameter wooden face and is 4-1/2 inches deep. This clock is exactly as we received it and includes the original brass pendulum and key. We did wind the clock and chime, and they both work and are in running condition. Although this will be well packaged, some clocks may need adjustments after shipping or moving. Therefore, we cannot guarantee that the clock will be in running condition when it arrives at your home.
