DESCRIPTION: This is an American maple wood bread or cheese board with a wrought iron knife or chopper from the Hudson Valley, New York, circa 1700s. The breadboard is hand turned and carved from a thick wide piece of heavy rock maple wood. The rock maple breadboard has two deep carved groove wells for catching any loose breadcrumbs. The reverse side of the breadboard can be used for serving a Block of Cheese. The breadboard has lots of scarring marks from over 200 years of use. The wrought iron knife Chopper has a thick wooden oak handle. The wrought iron knife is blacksmith made with a large decorative iron rivet and the blade still retains a sharp edge. MEASUREMENTS: Breadboard is 12 inches wide and wrought iron knife is 6 inches long.
Condition
The rock maple breadboard and wrought iron knife has age appropriate wear and patina from over 200 years of use.
