This photograph features a lovely and calm scene looking over Lake Tahoe. With snow capped mountains in the distance, and a shore lined with tress, the lake looks peaceful and pristine. A man can be seen on the side of a steamer, perhaps preparing for another day of work around the lake. The photographer is identified as R.J. Waters, landscape photographer of Gold Hill, NV, who was active in the 1880s (Mautz). This cabinet photograph was featured in the Lake Tahoe Series produced by Waters. On the back of the matte there is a small map of Lake Tahoe listing important landmarks around the lake. The matte measures 8.5" x 5.20" while the photograph measures 8.10" x 5.15." The focus is extremely sharp while the contrast is medium. There is only slight wear on the photograph including small marks on the right side. Tahoe City, CA
