Description
Strong provenance for this large scale. Inside box it says used to weigh 450,000 grams by Martin Rohrig. Morning Glory Mine, Alleghany. This piece was brought to us by a relative of the miner. Martin is found throughout the book "The Voices Still Echo in the Canyons, a Picture History of Alleghany" by Bud Buczkowke. Martin Rohrig discovered the vein of the Morning Glory Mine in 1893. The Rohrig Brothers (Martin's sons) owned the mine in 1910. Morning Glory removed $80,000 to $100,000 of gold and silver. Alleghany, CA
