Description
1868. Incorporated March 19, 1864. Location: Gold Hill District. Storey County, N.T. Gold Hill, Nevada Territory. Certificate #104. Located on the Comstock Ledge. Issued for ten shares to Wilson Dunlap on April 23, 1868. According to the 1870 Nevada census, Dunlap was a bookkeeper. Even more interesting, his name pops-up in the Jan. 19, 1874 Sacramento Daily Union: "Wilson Dunlap, the absconding stock-broker of Gold Hill, returned to his old stamping ground on the 14th instant, involuntarily." Two revenue stamps cover the vignette on the left. Top vignette features an eagle, stars, and American flags with a banner reading Pluribus Unum. Small vignette of dog on bottom. Black border. Gold Hill News Print. Reverse signed by Dunlap. Soiling around and behind stamps. Scarce certificate! Gold Hill, NV
