Description
DESCRIPTION: These are a wooden treen bread board and English bread knife with maker’s mark circa 1800s. The bread board is finely carved with a detailed bordered edge. There is a deep carved groove well for catching any loose breadcrumbs. The reserve side of the bread board can be used for serving a block of cheese. The bread knife is made of English Steel with a finely carved handle reading "Bread". The English bread knife is engraved with the maker’s marked: “Wade Wingfield & Rowbotham. The company was founded in 1825. There are also two hallmarks on the English bread knife. There is a slight age crack on the wooden handle that adds character and authenticity to the bread knife. The bread board has lots of knife scaring marks, from decades of use. MEASUREMENTS: The bread board is 12 inches wide and the knife is 13 inches long.
Condition
The bread knife and bread board are in excellent condition with aged appropriate patina.
